Companies House
The main functions of Companies House are to: register UK limited companies, inspect and record company details (as submitted on the relevant forms) which are received under the current and past regulations and related legislation, and to allow these details to be available and accessible by the general public.
All company formations in the UK go through Companies House who have the sole right to accept or reject any registration application it received. As well as incorporations submissions, other documents such as forms 288a, 288b relating to appointments and resignations must be sent and approved by the Registrar of Companies before they become legal changes in the business.
Statutory accounts whether full, abbreviated or dormant must be sent by all companies to the Registrar within certain time limits. Fines and possibly other penalties can be applied if the various provisions laid down by the registrar are not complied with. The use of a reputable company formation agent and an appropriately qualified accountant can help minimise the chances of the correct documents not being filed with Companies House in a timely and correct fashion.
