Applications for grants may be turned down for a number of reasons. Some of these may be the fault of the applicant whereas others may be outside their control.
The list below is not exhaustive but may help you to avoid making mistakes:
The business area the company is involved in was not compatible with the fund requirements.
The documents submitted do not demonstrate clearly how the objectives would be attained.
Insufficient supporting evidence
Timescales and progress seemed unrealistic
Sums do not add up
The project would have undesirable effects on the local population
Supporting evidence is not relevant or old
Doubts about other funds being available
It may be worthwhile to contact the funding body following a rejection to ask them why you were not successful.
