Letter before legal action
A "Letter before Legal Action" should be sent in the event a customer fails to settle or agree to settle the outstanding debt after receiving the reminder letters.
This Letter before Legal Action is drafted for a County Court and High Court summons (the latter if the claim is £15,000 or more), or the threat of a Winding-up Petition. This can often result in payment being received earlier than with Court proceedings.
A Winding-up Petition can only be used if the debt is over £750.00. If this letter fails to receive a satisfactory response you can download the requisite forms to effect the next stage.
