Why has the PSC Register been introduced?

To increase transparency in UK companies and combat issues such as money laundering. With the help of the Register, the UK Government can see who really owns / runs a company. It has been introduced as part of the Small Business, Enterprise and Employment Act 2015.

When does a company need to start keep a PSC Register?

Companies should have been keeping a register since 6 April 2016. But don’t worry, our services can get your company compliant quickly.

What information do I need to keep on the PSC Register?

For each PSC you will need to record the:

  • Full Name
  • Date of birth
  • Service address
  • Residential address (not on the public register)
  • Country of residence
  • Nationality
  • Date the person became registrable
  • Nature of their control

What if a company's PSC information changes?

If there is an error or a company needs to add/remove a PSC, the company must update its own register straight away. If you’ve purchased our PSC Online Register, you can amend these details by logging in to your Company Formation Made Simple account. A company must also update Companies House when it next files a Confirmation Statement (formerly known as Annual Return).

What is the Confirmation Statement?

As of 30 June 2016 the Confirmation Statement has replaced the Annual Return. The Confirmation Statement includes a section dedicated to PSC, other than this, it includes the same information as the Annual Return. Your Confirmation Statement due date will take your current Annual Return due date.
